Arsenal have received an offer from Wolves to sign Aaron Ramsdale for the season loan.

It comes as the Gunners hunt down Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reporting that personal terms have already been clinched.

Ramsdale has had to play second fiddle at Arsenal after the arrival of David Raya, who initially joined on loan from Brentford last summer before penning a permanent deal this year.

There has been interest in the former Sheffield United stopper, including from Newcastle and Chelsea.

But Wolves have now lodged an official bid for the Englishman, a loan until the end of the season.
The offer also includes an option to buy, though Arsenal are yet to accept.

However, having already agreed terms with Garcia, it would seem that Mikel Arteta is preparing for life without Ramsdale.

Ramsdale signed for the Gunners in 2021 for a fee of £30million and was first-choice for two years before Raya arrived.

The 26-year-old made just six appearances in the Premier League last season but still was picked for the England squad ahead of Euro 2024 this summer.

Before the tournament got underway, Ramsdale did admit that he was frustrated with his situation at the Emirates.

“No footballer wants to not play. I’ve had a tough year personally not playing, and I never want to do that again,” he said.

Arsenal were interested in Wolves back-up goalkeeper Dan Bentley in the summer and had a £50,000 bid rejected.

However, there is no indication that the 31-year-old has been included in any talks over Ramsdale.

Several players have already left Arsenal this summer, including academy ace Emile Smith Rowe who joined Fulham for £25m earlier this summer.

Nuno Tavares and Albert Sambi Lokonga have also departed on loan deals to Lazio and Sevilla respectively.

Arteta has dipped into the transfer window, signing the highly-rated Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna as well as Raya’s deal being made permanent.

However, the Spaniard has insisted he has no plans to sign a new striker despite links to Brentford’s Ivan Toney.

He said: “After the season we had two objectives – the main and most important one is make sure we are still in love with our players.

“Then, OK if there are still opportunities in the market we will look at them.

“I already said at the beginning that the main focus is to improve our players and find margins that help them find a level that they probably hadn’t even dreamed about.”
