Halton Regional Police have charged a woman accused of polluting pools in Milton with feces.

The municipal pools in question are at the Milton Sports Centre and Milton Leisure Centre.

Police said that on several occasions between Aug. 1 and Aug. 12 a woman was allegedly contaminating the pools with poop and chocolate bars during public swims.

“These actions endangered the health of those present, and caused these facilities to be shut down for extended periods of times, impacting aquatic programming and incurring significant costs for the Town of Milton,” police said in a news release.

Once police learned of the woman’s alleged actions, an investigation was started.

Police alleged they witnessed the woman deliberately contaminating the pool at the Milton Leisure Centre on Aug. 15.

She was arrested.

A search of the woman found items consistent with what had been discovered in the pool during the other incidents, police said.

A 33-year-old woman from Milton has been charged with mischief under $5,000.
