The family of a young Armagh GAA player battling cancer have asked people to pray for him.

Caolan Finnegan (20), from Crossmaglen, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer last year.

He has played Gaelic football for his club, Crossmaglen Rangers and St Colman’s College, Newry.

In March, a ‘Care for Caolan’ GoFundMe appeal was launched by friends to support the family in accessing vital treatments abroad.

In an update on Friday night, the page said: “The Finnegan family have kindly asked for everyone’s prayers especially tonight and in the coming days for Caolan.

“Please keep them all in your thoughts at this time.”

Earlier this month former Celtic manager Neil Lennon, who is from Lurgan, visited Caolan.

Armagh’s All-Ireland winning captain Aidan Forker and the Sam Maguire trophy also paid a special visit.
