Northern Ireland striker Simone Magill believes she has made the best decision for the direction of her career after signing for Birmingham City on a two-year deal.

The former Aston Villa star has made the switch across the city for the new Championship season and will add to the strike options on offer at St Andrew’s.

Magill, Northern Ireland’s first ever professional female footballer, is most notable for her time with Everton, whom she joined in 2013 from Mid-Ulster and would go on to amass over 150 appearances with the Toffees.

The striker was Everton’s Player of the Season in both the 2014/15 and 2018/19 campaigns before joining Aston Villa in 2022.

A 78-times capped international, who has 24 goals to her name and was part of their historic Euro 2022 squad, Magill says she can’t wait to get going in Birmingham having made the switch.

“I’m really excited to be here and get started. It’s a really exciting prospect here at the club, so I am delighted to finally be here and to sign,” said Magill.

“The ambition and the direction here is very exciting. When deciding on my next move for me in my career, I feel like it was a good decision to come, I feel like the fit was right and, hopefully, I can play a part in getting this club to where it wants to be.”
