Cineworld in Belfast has reopened after it was evacuated earlier today.

On Thursday afternoon, staff said an investigation was ongoing at the venue at the Odyssey Pavilion.

“If you have booked tickets online you will be refunded within 3 – 5 working days,” they said in a social media post.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will update on when the cinema has reopened.”

Cineworld provided an update on Thursday evening saying the cinema will re-open from 7pm.

“We thank everyone for their ongoing patience and look forward to welcoming you back,” a Facebook post added.

“Only showings from 7pm will be shown, any shows affected by the closure will be refunded within 3-5 working days!”

Meanwhile, the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service said: “There was a call-out at 11.59am and firefighters checked the premises.

“One appliance from Central Fire Station attended but no signs of any smoke or fire – appears to have been a false alarm.”
