Halton Regional Police confirmed they responded to reports of a man being dragged by a vehicle on the QEW in Oakville last week.
A 35-second video of the incident, posted to social media on Aug. 8 by @6ixbuxzzTV, went viral and has been viewed more than 285,000 times.
Cops responded to the scene east of Trafalgar Road just before midnight on Aug. 7.
“It was deemed to be non-criminal in nature as a person in crisis was attempting to enter a moving vehicle on the QEW,” Halton Const. Jeff Dillon told the Sun in an e-mail Monday.
“No charges were laid,” he added.
The video, shot from another vehicle behind, shows the man being dragged by a white SUV heading westbound on the QEW in Oakville.
The pedestrian can be seen hanging off the SUV, dragging his feet along the pavement, until the vehicle pulls over at the Trafalgar Road exit and the man lets go and appears uninjured.
