An ex-police officer has issued an emotion plea for a knife crime crackdown after news broke that an 11-year-old girl and a 39-year-old woman were injured in a knife attack earlier today in central London.

Norman Brennan told GB News that he has urged the government to clamp down on the perpetrators, and questioned why they would not listen.

Speaking to Martin Daubney on GB News, he said: “How many times? For 30 years, I’ve been the lead campaigner on knife crime in Britain. I offered the last government my services.

“I’ve met a thousand families, I’ve had somebody murdered. I’ve almost been murdered myself. I know the psychology of knife crime. I know the law on knife crime.

“I know all the threads around Britain that need to be pulled together. I said to the last government, please give me the job as Britain’s homicide gun and knife commissioner, I had a meeting with the Home Secretary in January. He cancelled it for no good reason.”

The former cop explained that we need to have the same approach to knife crime that the UK has had with rioters over the past few weeks.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

He added: “They were rioting, turning police cars over hundreds of police officers were being assaulted. We’ve nipped that in the bud.

“Just imagine, if we built five or 10 new prisons and we said five years for anyone, including children, will have a mandatory sentence.

“You will not be given bail. You’ll be sent to prison or a young offenders institute. Martin, I’m an expert on this subject. We can stop these hundreds of killings.

“We can stop these parents planning funerals instead of bright futures. Why doesn’t anyone listen? I’ve been shouting from the mountaintops.”

Brennan worked as a police officer for 15 years and was stabbed in the line of duty, he has since helped try to tackle knife crime in the UK.

He explained: “Even as a serving police officer for 15 years, I predicted the epidemic. I’m an expert in the subject. I know passionately.

“Well, nobody has ever reached out to police officers to actually offer a hand of friendship and support.”

The stabbing took place in broad daylight this morning, and officers were called to the scene in Leicester Square at around 11:30 am.
