Adam Klapka isn’t going anywhere.

Either, as it turns out, is Yan Kuznetzov.

The Calgary Flames got busy on Monday, announcing the re-signings of two of their intriguing young prospects.

Both Klapka and Kuznetsov were set to become restricted free-agents this summer and were extended qualifying offers in June.

Klapka, a towering Czech winger, has emerged as a fascinating prospect after going undrafted. At 6-foot-8 and weighing in at 235 lbs., he’s an imposing figure on the ice and has shown considerable growth in his game while skating mostly with the Calgary Wranglers.

He put up 46 points with the Flames’ AHL affiliate last season and was the Wranglers’ leading scorer in the playoffs, contributing seven points in six games.

But he also showed he wasn’t out-of-place in the NHL, either. The 23-year-old played in six games for the Flames and scored his first NHL goal against the San Jose Sharks.

Kuznetsov, meanwhile, also took his first strides as an NHLer this season.

The 22-year-old defenceman was selected in the second round, 50th overall in the 2020 NHL Draft and made his NHL debut on Jan. 9 against the Ottawa Senators. He also played in 63 games with the Wranglers, scoring five goals and adding eight assists.
