Davy Fitzgerald has been confirmed as the new Antrim hurling manager for a two-year term.

Fitzgerald will have the option of a third year under an agreement reached with Antrim county board which tonight approved his succession to Darren Gleeson.

Fitzgerald stepped down as Waterford manager in the last few weeks but with vacancies in Galway and Dublin, he has opted to accept an offer from Antrim.

Antrim chair Seamus McMullan has said in a statement welcoming the former Clare All-Ireland winning manager that they would welcome his “interest” in contributing to the development of their underage structures.
