A boy has been taken to hospital after being stabbed in the centre of Manchester.
Greater Manchester Police, who did not reveal the victim’s age, descended on Portland Street in the middle of the city just after 8pm on Monday.
The boy was stabbed near Manchester’s Piccadilly Gardens tram stop, according to local reports, where numerous emergency vehicles were seen as officers cordoned off the area.
A statement from the force said the boy was left with “non life-threatening” injuries – but confirmed he had been hospitalised.

Police added that no arrests have been made after the attack, though they noted enquiries were ongoing.
Officers with torches were seen searching the area around the nearby Piccadilly Gardens tram stop just over an hour after the boy was stabbed.
The news comes mere hours after another child – an 11-year-old girl – was stabbed in London’s Leicester Square alongside a 34-year-old woman in a broad daylight attack earlier today.
The Metropolitan Police descended on the popular tourist hotspot where they arrested a man – though GB News understands investigators have ruled out any terrorist links.
There is no evidence indicating the two incidents are related.
