Reform UK MP Rupert Lowe has hit out at the “elite” for their role in allowing mass migration into Britain, saying it is the root cause of the bedlam seen across the country in recent days.

Protesters have taken to the streets, vandalised property and clashed with police officers in the wake of a crazed stabbing attack in Southport that saw the deaths of three young girls.

Speaking on GB News, Lowe said fury has been bubbling away for years after Tony Blair’s Labour-led government opened the doors to mass immigration.

He warned Keir Starmer “will make matters worse”, claiming the prime minister does not appreciate the scale of the problem.

“Since 1997, millions of legal and illegal migrants have come into the country”, he said.

“People who come here need to respect the fact we are a Christian country with our own laws and history.

“I’m afraid a lot of them aren’t integrating into our society. They don’t like our society and what we stand for.

“If people are going to come here, they are going to need to integrate with us. Police have to deal with people fairly and equally, otherwise we are heading for a systemic problem and Keir Starmer won’t be in power for long if that happens.”

Camilla Tominey responded by asking how that can be possible, to which Lowe responded: “The elite have brought these people in, in an untargeted way, and it’s built up a massive problem.

“We have to deal with this and it has to be done fairly and correctly. People in this country are not racist, they are very fair minded.

“But when they are angry, it’s difficult to stop them getting angry.”

Camilla responded by asking if Lowe was suggesting most immigrants fail to assimilate in society, as most Britons will know several instances where this is not the case.

“Some people do integrate well, our chairman Zia Yusuf for example”, he said.

“Have you been to parts of Bradford? I used to be chairman of a football club, I used to go to these places.

“Are you saying places like this are integrated well and are accepting of the Christian faith? You tell me.”

Asked how Reform would go about tackling the issue, Lowe said his party would look to “severely limit” illegal and legal migration.

“We are seeing illegal migrants coming in by boat and the equivalent to the city the size of Bristol coming in each year”, he said.

“That is not sustainable. All of our public services are failing as a result.”
