Police in York Region are investigating Thursday’s fatal shooting of a man in broad daylight outside a Markham home.

Police say, at approximately 2:45 p.m., officers responded to a report of several shots fired outside a residence in the area of Cottsmore Cres. and Harvest Moon Dr.

Responding officers found an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported to a trauma centre where he was pronounced dead.

Police identified the victim as Chenguang Li, a 50-year-old man from Markham.

Investigators believe the shooting was targeted.

Cops say a black four-door Acura sedan with tinted windows was seen leaving the area.

Investigators with the homicide squad are asking any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to come forward, along with anyone who has video footage, including dashcam, cellphone or security recordings from the area around the time of the incident.
