Fermanagh duo Ross Corrigan and Nathan Timoney have the opportunity to follow fellow Northern Irish rowers Hannah Scott, Rebecca Shorten and Philip Doyle and win an Olympic medal this morning.

The Fermanagh pair will compete for Ireland in the Men’s Pair Final at 10.30am, where they have a realistic chance of winning a medal.

There’s another medal hope for Northern Irish Olympians today, with Ardmore’s Daniel Coyle riding for Ireland in Show Jumping’s Team Final at 1pm.

Elsewhere, Rory McIlroy’s campaign rolls into day two while boxer Michaela Walsh fights Svetlana Kamenova Staneva of Bulgaria in the Last 16 of the Women’s Featherweight competition.

On the track, Bangor woman Rachel McCann is part of Ireland’s 4x400m Mixed Relay Team that will race in the Stade de France at 6.22pm on the opening day of the Olympic Athletics competition.

In the hockey tournament, Ireland play their final game of the Olympics against New Zealand at 4pm while Great Britain warm-up for their Quarter-Final with a game against old rivals Germany.
