Northern Ireland athletes’ impressive and unprecedented run at the Olympics is showing no sign of slowing down.

Yesterday saw two more medals added to the tally. Earlier this week Magheralin swimmer Daniel Wiffen clinched gold in the 800m freestyle, while Belfast man Jack McMillan also got gold as part of the victorious GB 4x200m freestyle team.

On Wednesday, rower Hannah Scott added to the tally with another gold, and yesterday saw Banbridge rower Philip Doyle picking up bronze alongside his partner Daire Lynch in the men’s double sculls. Soon afterwards another NI rower, Rebecca Shorten, won a silver medal with GB in the women’s fours.

And there are still plenty more opportunities for NI athletes to pick up medals.

Gymnast Rhys McClenaghan, boxer Michaela Walsh and runner Ciara Mageean have all been tipped to go all the way.

Success at the Games for our athletes has a way of bringing people together, regardless if they’re competing for GB or Ireland. We all should be wishing them the best of luck.
