Customers were asked to leave Primark in Belfast city centre on Friday morning as it was evacuated.

The store at Bank Buildings is now being reopened – and it’s thought the closure was due to a false fire alarm.

The fire service made its way to the scene on Royal Avenue before customers were allowed to return.

A previous fire in 2018 gutted the premises in the city.

The Grade B1-listed, five-storey premises later reopened after extensive works in 2022.
