Two men have been charged in connection with a serious assault in a Co Antrim bar during which a teenager had parts of his ears bitten off.

The suspects, aged 28 and 20, were arrested by PSNI officers in the Leeds area this week.

They have been charged with wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

Both men will appear before Coleraine Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

The incident happened in licensed premises in the High Street area of Antrim in the early hours of Sunday May 12.

The victim, aged in his late teens, had part of each ear bitten off and required hospital treatment following the assault.

PSNI Detective Inspector Lenaghan previously thanked colleagues in West Yorkshire Police and members of the public for their assistance in the investigation.

As is procedure, the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
