Amy Hunter scored an unbeaten 134 but it wasn’t enough to lead the Dragons to victory in their Super Series title shoot-out with the Scorchers at North County.

Chasing 300, the Belfast teenager hit 16 fours and cleared the ropes three times in her 102-ball knock, but ran out of partners with her side 39 runs short.

She and fellow Irish international Orla Prendergast added 98 for the third wicket and at 168 for two, and 236 for four, it seemed likely that the Dragons would be successful.

However, two run-outs didn’t help their cause, while there were also four wickets for Niamh MacNulty as the last six wickets tumbled for just 25 runs.

Earlier, Gaby Lewis had top-scored for the Scorchers, hitting 13 fours and four maximums in her 82-ball 102, sharing a third wicket stand of 136 with Leah Paul, who made 67.

There were also runs too for Christine Coulter-Reilly (32) and Jane Maguire (23), while New Zealander Claudia Green was the pick of the bowlers, taking three for 32.

Hunter’s 134 was the fourth highest individual score in the ten-year history of the Super Series, and her second century in the 16 that have been scored in that time.
