Michelle Dewberry has given her opinion on the Southport protests which took place on Tuesday night after a vigil was held for three children killed in a stabbing attack.
The GB News presenter said that anybody who is concerned about the direction the country is headed is branded as “far-right” to “shame people into silence.”
Dewberry said: “I was sad to see the way things descended last night in #Southport much of it was unacceptable.
“I must also say tho that I understand the fury & rage that many people feel. I feel it too.
“Concerns of decent average people have been ignored & vilified for a long time. There has been a constant & casual smearing of people; labels such as “far-right” & “racist” among others, constantly & casually used to depict anyone who is concerned about the direction of travel this country is going.
“The labels are often used in an attempt to shame people into silence.
“There are tough questions that need to be asked and tough conversations that need to be had.”

Matt Goodwin echoed Dewberry’s comments outlining the “double standard” in policing against protest groups repeatedly being classed as “far right.”
The political guru said people have a right to feel angry about the collapse of borders and mass migration which was never voted for.
Goodwin said: “Millions of Brits have watched double standard policing, lawlessness, the collapse of borders, a mass migration they never voted for, mass grooming, the murder of police, MPs, army & now children, & are then called “far right” when they say anything about it. Violence against cops is NEVER justified. But people have a right to feel angry.
“Far right” is a rejection of human rights and democracy. Turning up to protest the murder of children & what appears to be another attempted stabbing at the vigil is not “far right”. This term is increasingly meaningless.”

David Atherton, a journalist with The European Conservative, also commented on the ‘far-right smears’ against protestors.
He said: “I condemn the violence against the police & the mosque in Southport. Home Secretary @YvetteCooperMP witters on about “Those responsible will face the full force of the law”.

“The govt has ignored the electorate on immigration & its criminal ramifications for decades. You are the architects of your own downfall, the anger will not be going away.”

It comes as protestors took to Southport on Tuesday evening after three young girls were killed while attending a Taylor Swift-themed holiday club this week.
The knife attack saw Alice Dasilva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, fatally stabbed.
Violence broke out after a vigil was held for the three girls amid claims the police were not telling the truth about the suspect’s background and his motive.
Four people have been arrested and over 53 police officers suffered serious injuries during the violent protests including fractures, lacerations, a suspected broken nose.
