A  78-year-old died when the tractor they were operating rolled over an embankment on their property west of Port Stanley, Elgin OPP said.

The mishap occurred at about 1:30 p.m. Monday on Walnut Line east of Willey Road in Dutton Dunwich, police said.

The property owner, a resident of Wallacetown whose name was not released by police, died at the scene.

Police said the investigation into the crash continues. Dutton Dunwich fire fighters and paramedics from Elgin-St. Thomas Emergency Medical Services also responded to the property.

Sawed-off shotguns, ammunition seized in Sarnia arrest

Ammunition and two sawed-off shotguns were found in a duffle bag Sunday when a man was arrested, Sarnia police said.

A man and a person he didn’t know agreed via an internet app to meet, but the man began acting erraticly and appeared to be under the influence of a substance, police said. He pulled out a sawed-off shotgun when asked by the person to leave, police said.

The person called 911 at about 12:45 p.m. and when officers arrived, the man tried to flee through the back of the property on Trudeau Drive but was arrested, police said.

The duffle bag was found in a search of the area.

A 36-year-old Sarnia man has been charged with assault with a weapon, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, possession of a weapon contrary to a probation order, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, careless storage of a firearm and ammunition, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, police said.
