Firefighters are at the scene of an ongoing fire at a recycling plant in Mallusk.

The blaze broke out shortly after 2pm, on the outskirts of north Belfast with an aerial platform and 5 other appliances at the scene.

Video from the scene shows firefighters focused on a large metal shed-type building.

A Northern Ireland Fire Service spokesperson (NIFRS) said: “NIFRS is currently at the scene of a fire on Trench Road, Mallusk, Glengormley.

“The initial call was received at 2.05pm today (Tuesday 30 July 2024). Please avoid the area and local residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed at this time. The incident is ongoing.”
