Toronto Police are alerting the public of recent distraction-type attempted thefts.

Police said that on July 20 at 1:30 p.m., an elderly victim was in his driveway in the Yonge St. and Sheppard Ave. area when he was approached by a man and a woman asking for directions.

As the victim was giving directions, the woman allegedly tried to take items from his pockets.

When the couple didn’t get anything, they left and approached another elderly neighbour.

The man is 35 to 43 years old and about 5-foot-10 with a medium build, black hair and beard and tattoos on his forearms, shoulders and neck area. He was wearing a white T-shirt and pants.

The woman is in her 30s with a heavy build and was wearing a floral gown. She has tattoos on her arms.

Anyone with information is asked to contact 416-808-3200 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
