The Foreign Office has listed a number of things that tourists need to remember when they are heading abroad from passport rules to crimes you need to be aware of. And now, they’re warning tourists who take photographs to think before they snap.

The government officials state that there are certain areas across Greece that you can’t take photographs of. Failure to adhere to these rules could see tourists being arrested and potentially prosecuted.

Under the section ‘using cameras or approaching sensitive locations‘, they warn: “It is illegal to approach or take photos or videos of military installations, vehicles or buildings.”

It adds: “The authorities will arrest and possibly prosecute anyone doing so. Border areas are also militarily sensitive. If you visit such areas, do not take photos or videos.”

The warning comes as British tourists heading to the tourist hotspot have been issued an urgent warning as the European country witnesses a surge in the number of Covid cases due to the new FLiRT variant.

The National Public Health Organization, EODY, has reported a significant increase in hospital admissions, with 669 new Covid-19 patients admitted from July 8 to 14, 2024.

Currently, there are no Covid-19 testing or vaccination requirements for travellers entering Greece. However if you are heading there soon, it’s worth checking it daily in case this changes.
