Donald Trump has announced he will return to the site where a lone gunman attempted to assassinate him earlier this month.

Trump, 78, was shot near the ear in Butler, Pennsylvania, while addressing supporters on July 13.

Corey Comperatore, 50, was killed and another two people were injured after Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, opened fire at the 45th President in the Keystone State.

In an update on Truth Social, Trump said: “I will be going back to Butler, Pennsylvania, for a big and beautiful rally, honoring the soul of our beloved firefighting hero, Corey, and those brave patriots injured two weeks ago.

“What a day it will be — fight, fight, fight! stay tuned for details.”

It is unclear when or where the rally in Butler will take place.

However, the Secret Service has urged Trump against holding outdoor rallies following the assassination attempt.

The Secret Service also came under fire in the wake of the shooting, with Kimberly Cheatle resigning after facing fury from Republicans and Democrats.

A fundraiser for the victims of the shooting, which was promoted by Trump, has so far raised more than $6million.

Trump appeared defiant after being shot by Crooks, raising his fist and yelling “fight”.

The 45th President was then rushed away by the Secret Service.

He has held a number of rallies since the shooting, including in the swing states of Michigan and North Carolina.

He is scheduled to head to Minnesota tomorrow and will return to Pennsylvania next week.

Trump has worn a bandage over his ear where he was shot in a significant statement following the shooting.
