The Chicago cop who exposed race hate hoaxer Jussie Smollett is lambasting Kamala Harris for her defence of the Empire star before detectives had concluded their investigation.

In 2019, Smollett claimed he was out grabbing a Subway sandwich in Chicago on a cold winter night when he was attacked by two MAGA racists in ski masks who doused him with bleach and slipped a rope around his neck while hammering him with racist and homophobic slurs.

Smollett’s claims triggered universal condemnation, including from his pal Harris, who tweeted that the “attack” was a “modern-day lynching.”

The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee still hasn’t deleted the post made when she was a California senator.

She wrote: “(Jussie Smollett) is one of the kindest, most gentle human beings I know. I’m praying for his quick recovery.

“This was an attempted modern-day lynching. No one should have to fear for their life because of their sexuality or colour of their skin. We must confront this hate.”

But then Smollett’s story totally unravelled. He had recruited two Nigerian brothers for the bogus beatdown in an attempt to get meatier roles and a fatter payday.

When the truth emerged, Harris said she was “sad, frustrated and disappointed” after learning Smollett made “false claims to police.”

Former Chicago chief of detectives Eugene Roy said Harris rushed to judgment.

“It’s one thing to express your support for a friend. It’s another thing to use your platform as a government official to prejudge a case before it’s played out,” Roy told Fox News for the documentary Jussie Smollett: Anatomy of a Hoax.

Smollett — who is Black and gay — had filed a bogus police report claiming that two white men (his accomplices were two Nigerian brothers) in MAGA hats attacked him for his race and sexuality.

But phone records, text messages and CCTV revealed the conspiracy. In 2021, Smollett was convicted on five of six charges of disorderly conduct in 2021.

The actor was sentenced to 150 days in jail and 30 months probation. He was also was ordered to pay restitution to the city of Chicago in the amount of $120,106 and a fine of $25,000.

An appeals court upheld his conviction but the Illinois Supreme Court agreed to hear Smollett’s case in March.

“What should have been a straightforward case has been complicated by the intersection of politics and public outrage,” his lawyers wrote in February.

His legal eagles are arguing that his trial violated Fifth Amendment protections against double jeopardy — or being punished twice for the same crime.

Of course, Smollett’s well-heeled family are tightly connected to the Windy City’s Democratic Party machine. That included the State’s Attorney for Cook County, and family friend Kim Foxx, who gave him a sweetheart deal of community service and a $10,000 bond.

Outrage ensued in the crime-ravaged Second City and Smollett was arrested, charged and convicted.

At the time of the fake race-hate beatdown, President Joe Biden also tweeted in support of the fibbing thespian. Roy the Chicago cop said those statements “cast a shadow” over the probe.

“People see who has made hasty judgments about controversial issues and, hopefully, they keep that in mind when they evaluate the merits of the candidates,” he told Fox.
