Carlos Alcaraz has responded after liking a rude picture on Instagram ahead of the Paris Olympics.

The Spaniard will go into the tournament on a high, having recently won a fourth Grand Slam of his career at Wimbledon.

Alcaraz was outstanding during the competition at SW19 and crushed Novak Djokovic in the final, establishing himself as the brightest talent in world tennis in the process.

Ahead of the Olympics, fans on X were amused after Alcaraz liked a picture on social media that showed a broken gear stick.

The caption of the post read: “Alcaraz after living the Olympic Village experience’.

The four-time Grand Slam winner has now been asked about his decision to like the post, which referenced the rumoured orgies that take place at the Olympic Village.

And the tennis star has now insisted he didn’t know what he was liking.

“Man, I pressed like without meaning to, I didn’t realise,” he admitted when asked about the meme with sexual connotations.

This year’s Olympics will be special for Alcaraz.

The tennis star is set to play doubles alongside Rafael Nadal, who is widely expected to call time on his career before the end of the year.

There have been some concerns that Nadal is battling for fitness as he looks to win another gold, having previously scaled those heights back in 2008.

But Alcaraz insists Nadal is ready to play.

Spain coach David Ferrer added: “I’m sure Rafa will be in tomorrow’s doubles because he trained well today. Let’s see how he feels.

“The doubles requires less intensity than the singles, in which you have to be very well prepared physically and in full condition.”

Alcaraz also took to social media to confirm he’d be missing tonight’s opening ceremony.

“I was very excited to be able to go to the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics today with Spain,” he wrote.

“But tomorrow I have two games and it is advisable to rest and be ready! This begins!”

Ferrer has also revealed both Nadal and Alcaraz have ‘not found it easy’ staying at the Olympic Village so far.

“It’s not easy for them on a day-to-day basis here,” he said. “Many athletes stop them and I was impressed by the number of photos they ask for.

“Also, the good manners with which they face these moments.”

He continued: “I saw Rafa well, happy.

“It’s been a while since I saw him in Roland Garros and we had time in the afternoon to talk about a bit of everything, and today he’s training very well.

“That’s what’s important for Rafa, to be well and happy, and the rest will flow.

“It’s true that Rafa didn’t win the tournament, but he reached the final. I see him excited here, so we are all excited.”
