Slash is paying tribute to his stepdaughter, Lucy-Bleu Knight, who died last week at the age of 25.

In a post on Instagram, the legendary guitarist called Knight an “incredibly talented artist, a passionate dreamer and a charming, lovable, sweet soul.”

According to the rocker, Knight died “peacefully” but he did not offer a cause of death. In his message, Slash wrote: “The family asks for privacy at this time and requests that social media speculation be kept to a minimum as they grieve and process this devastating loss.”

Two days after her death, a post appeared on Knight’s Instagram page in which she seemingly addressed her tumultuous personal life. “Whether I made you feel excluded, manipulated/ controlled you, told you to quit your day job from the comfort of being financially supported by my parents, or drowned real issues in toxic positivity-I am sorry. Countless missed opportunities and connections due to a disgustingly big ego, insecure heart and fear of being vulnerable. May my soul learn to evolve from my poor job at being Lucy-Bleu. Peace,” she wrote.

Knight’s mother posted a response to the image, writing, “MY BABY GIRL! I LOVE YOU WITH EVERYTHING. I’M SO SORRY.”

According to PEOPLE, Slash, 59, dated Knight’s mother, Meegan Hodges, in the late ’80s. After the pair broke up, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer went on to have a relationship with model-actress Renee Suran, whom he was with from 1992 to 1997, and subsequently married Perla Ferrar in 2001, who is the mother to his two sons. After he and Ferrar called it quits in 2014, Slash rekindled his relationship with Hodges.

Following the news of Knight’s death, Slash announced that upcoming dates on his S.E.R.P.E.N.T tour will be postponed until July 27th.

According to Los Angeles Medical Examiner records viewed by the New York Post, Knight’s cause of death has been deferred as additional testing takes place.
