Nigel Farage reacted to Joe Biden’s sudden decision to quit this year’s Presidential election with a simple message: “I predicted this would happen.”

And the Reform UK leader said that no matter who the Democrats put on the top of the ticket for November, Donald Trump would once again be elected to the White House.

The incumbent President made a surprise announcement on social media on Sunday as he confirmed he was no longer seeking re-election.

His decision came after an increasing number of high profile and influential Democrats called on his to step aside amid concerns over his cognitive ability.

With polls increasingly suggesting Trump was set for a second spell in the top job, Biden said he was pulling out of the race “in the best interest of my part and the country”.

Reacting just minutes after the announcement was made, Farage said: “I predicted this would happen in September 2023.

“Whoever they pick, Trump will win in November.”

The Reform UK leader wrote an opinion piece for a UK newspaper last year in which he set out the reasons he believed Biden’s plans to seek re-election would not survive.

He wrote in the Daily Express at the time: “Joe Biden’s erratic behavior during his presidency has been so embarrassing to witness that it comes as no surprise to me that the talk in Washington is turning to his future.

“Officially, the plan is that he should be the Democrat candidate for the 2024 Presidential election. I predict, however, that this will not come to pass.”
