It’s the final Major of the year as the world’s best golfers bid for the Open Championship at Royal Troon.

The South African gets another birdie on eleven, his seventh of the day shooting him up to -4 for the tournament. He’s making light work of Troon so far.
Rain is falling, conditions may be about to get tougher for Shane Lowry and his fellow late staters, not that it would be a huge problem for Lowry who will be used to the difficult links conditions. He’ll tee off on his third round in 45 minutes time.
There’s a shout from the crowd as Sam Burns plays his approach to the Par Three eight hole. Wonder is Burns shouting for Cork or Clare.
He birdies the hole. Is it a good omen for Tony Kelly and the Clare men?
He picks up his second birdie of his round on the seventh, bringing him up to +1 for the tournament.

Rory McIlroy is the Open’s forgotten man having failed to make the cut and you can catch up on all that went wrong for him here.
Along with Justin Thomas, South African Thirston Lawrence is also making huge headway, -6 thru nine bringing him up to -3, just four off the lead.
The conditions are calmer and the early shooters are capitalising.
Si Woo Kim hit the perfect shot to the 238 yard par 3 17th, bouncing it along the fairway and it never deviated from its line going straight into the hole. It’s marvellous to watch and it got some reception.
The American is roaring back into contention with a sensational round of golf, holing another long birdie putt to get back to -2.
He’s picked up an early birdie, brigning him to +2 for a share of 29th place.
It is best exemplified by Justin Thomas, a man who really has been on a rollercoaster this week. The two time major champ was tied third after Round One on -3. He had a disastrous start on Friday, going around the front nine in +9 dropping back amazingly to +6.
But ‘JT’ showed his mettle on the back nine where he was -2, bringing him back to +3.
He’s picked up in that form again today, going through the front nine in a highly impressive -5. He’s now -1 for the tournament after eleven holes and well in contention.
It’s moving day but all Irish fans are hopeful there’s not much movement at the top of the leaderboard with Shane Lowry remaining the man to catch.
He tees off in the final pairing with England’s Daniel Brown who has had a brilliant week so far in his first ever major. We’ll take you through all the action right here.
Day Two as it happened
He has a chip off the green to make par on 17. As it stands he and McIlroy – the pair who gave us that memorable US Open battle – are a combined 21 over par.
It’s been an Open to forget for McIlroy, as his major drought is set to continue into another year.
