A parrot that swears like a sailor has found its forever home after becoming Facebook-famous.

Pepper, the bird with an attitude, had been attracting the attention of hopeful adopters from across the U.S. ever since officials with the Niagara SPCA in Niagara Falls, New York, began sharing updates about him.

A parrot as a surrender was rare but being a “potty-mouthed” parrot made Pepper one of a kind.

“Bringing home a cursing conure might seem like a fun idea until Pepper offends grandma’s Tuesday night knitting group,” the agency’s initial June 15 post read.

“On the bright side, if you want to keep unannounced company from dropping in, adopt Pepper,” they said in their pitch. “They’ll think twice after being cussed out by your new foul-mouthed feathered friend.”

From comparing Pepper’s colourful feathers to his language, the SPCA claimed the “spicy” bird only swears “a little,” adding, “Somebody get this guy a bar of soap or a humor-loving home!”

Bird experience and proper housing was required to adopt Pepper — and the applications soon began pouring in.

In five days, there were more than 400 applicants, which staff managed to narrow down to 10, officials said in another Facebook post.

The SPCA’s latest announcement, on July 13, revealed Pepper had settled into a new home about 150 km south of Niagara Falls, after interviewing several candidates from across the U.S.

“Pepper found his sanctuary in a local Olean home with an African Grey named Shelby, who makes Pepper look like ‘a saint,’” officials wrote.

Adopters Tiffany and Tim told the SPCA that Pepper was “settling in nicely.”

According to the Facebook post, “He hasn’t cursed at them just yet, but we know it’s coming.”

They added: “We love that Pepper found his home with adopters who won’t be fazed by his colourful language, and who know their birds! May Pepper have decades of issuing threats to his new family! Now, go kick some a**, Pepper!”

Pepper’s owners have since created an Instagram account to document Pepper and Shelby’s shenanigans.

In one video, they revealed that they’ve heard Pepper say “hi, hello, a**hole, what ya doing” and that he has a “thing for blondes.”
