Bev Turner and Ben Leo have hit out at “snooty and sneering” broadcasters, as they claimed journalist Emily Maitlis showed “disdain” as she interviewed Nigel Farage at the Republican National Convention (RNC) yesterday.

Speaking on The News Agents, which she co-presents, the former BBC journalist said: “I mentioned the weirdos and the misfits. I mean, there is a really kind of distasteful thing going on which is the RNC seems to be where former celebrities come to reinvigorate their fallen celebrity status.”

In a behind the scenes video for GB News members, Ben and Bev slammed broadcasters for “sneering” and failing to question why people decide to support the people

Ben said: “The disdain that she has for not only Nigel but for everyone who attended the Republican National Convention. Other videos are showing how they sneered at them – they can’t understand why they’re there, [calling it a] ‘cult-like convention’. It just goes to show how snooty and sneering these people are. They don’t get it – they don’t get why there’s this revolution.”

Bev added: “And they’re not curious about why there’s such divided politics, that’s what struck me when I watched some of the footage of these broadcasters.”

She urged people to “stop and pause and think, ‘Why are people drawn to that view of the world?'”

Bev continued: “We were disappointed to see other broadcasters talking like that, but that is the beauty of GB News because we don’t talk like that and we do have curiosity.

“And we are interested in why people look at politics through the lens that they are currently looking at and finding, often, us.”

Fellow presenter Ben agreed, telling viewers: “Yep, the home of free speech. Stick with us, we love serving you. Stay tuned and we’ll see you soon.”
