Washington has been described as a cesspool and swamp.

But America’s capital has nothing on the murderous machinations former Gambino underboss Salvatore “Sammy the Bull” Gravano survived during his decades in the Mob.

Today, the old mobster has some things on his mind, particularly about former U.S. president Donald Trump and his miraculous survival following a shocking assassination attempt.

The 79-year-old gangster turned podcaster and raconteur told the Toronto Sun that Trump’s phoenix-like rise from an assassination attempt was nothing short of “inspiring.”

“If I wasn’t a convicted felon, I would be voting for him in November. No doubt about it,” the Bull said in a phone interview from his Arizona home.

“I don’t think that he can lose now. I think the whole f***ing world loves him. He acted like a man’s man, ready to take another bullet. That’s the man you want to be president of the United States.”

Trump was shot in the ear on Saturday at a rally in Butler, Pa., by a bullet from the AR-15 that narrowly missed sending the talkative tycoon to the morgue.

The 20-year-old gunman was taken off the board by the U.S. Secret Service. Sadly, a 50-year-old former firefighter died protecting his family and two others were also shot.

But after he took the bullet, Trump stood up on the stage, pumped his fist and told the crowd, “Fight!”

The embattled former president and the Republican Party were galvanized by the moment, captured forever in an iconic press photo.

Yet Gravano is echoing the public and a Trump fan from the streets: Former Columbo family capo Michael Franzese, another mobster turned celebrity.

Franzese wrote on Twitter in the wake of the mayhem in Pennsylvania: “DONALD TRUMP IS A FIGHTER. TRUMP IS A TRUE LEADER. TRUMP WILL NOT BACK DOWN TO ENEMIES DOMESTIC OR ABROAD!!! Just look at his reaction. DEFIANT! The shooter is dead. Our prayers are with our President Trump. God bless the Secret Service!”

Gravano said respect for Trump goes beyond an OldFellas fan club. It’s worldwide.

“What would have Joe Biden done? He would have s*** himself and sat on the floor crying,” he said. “You want someone strong to lead the country … and Trump? That’s a man I’d want at the helm.”

And the old gangster, who was quietly one of the most powerful players in the underworld until he became John Gotti’s underboss, claims the U.S. is lurching rightward.

People, he said, are sick of woke ideology.

“I know people who are Democrats who are changing over all this nonsense and they are moving to the right,” the Bull said. “Everyone is sick of it, I’m really tired of it. Women are too.”

He added, taking a shot at faculty-lounge protesters: “They want men to be men.”

Even if they happen to be Margaret Thatcher.

And that’s it.

Nice socks don’t matter, nor do bogus bromides. And virtue signalling? A tiresome exercise in undergraduate narcissism.

To Gravano, a kid who struggled in school but had the brains to run a Fortune 500 company, the last 10 years have been a colossal exercise in B.S.

These days, he’s focused on movie consulting and seeing his own life story make it to the big screen.

“I’m working hard on it,” he said. “It’s the story of my life. Thinking back about my life, it’s a fun project. And I have my podcast, Our Thing, and that keeps me busy.”

He added: “You stay outta trouble, bruh.”
