A sinister video has appeared online where a masked man threatens to “shoot” Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald while also threatening the life of Garda Commissioner Drew Harris.

The clip widely shared on X shows the man uttering an expletive-ridden rant about Mr Harris and Ms McDonald, as he encourages the Coolock rioters to kill the Garda Commissioner by “taking his throat”.

The Crown Paints factory on the Malahide Road in north Dublin was the scene of chaos on Monday with more than 30 people arrested in relation to public order offences as crowds attacked garda personnel and vehicles and set alight part of the site slated to house asylum seekers.

“Just making a couple of videos about what happened yesterday,” he begins, referring to the outbreak of violence in north Dublin on Monday.

“This is ridiculous lads. Get up the lads in Coolock. F**kin’ love yas, lads, petrol bomb the f**k out of the lot of them.

“Don’t worry lads,” he adds, “I’ll be down to help ya, don’t worry about that. Yiz have more backup than yas think, lads, yeah?”

He then urges them to “take that Drew Harris p***k as well, take his whole throat, lads, take Drew Harris’s throat off him. F**k Drew Harris, f**k the lot of them in that fuckin’ Dáil, f**ck everyone, f**k everyone.

“Think about your f**kin’ self. Drew Harris, he be getting shot, he be getting’ f**kin’ blasted, I swear to God on that, he be getting shot before the end of the year. And see that Mary Lou? I’ll shoot her meself, for free. I’ll do her for free, I will, yeah?”

The video has attracted comments from some X users who express alarm about the content.

“He needs arrested ASAP along with this man,” one person has written, referring to another man. “They are both a danger to the public.”

Another adds: “THIS is exactly who are the real danger – not immigrants.”

One other person offered: “They think they represent the people as well, they are a disgrace to the country and people like him make me embarrassed to be Irish.”

The Garda Press Office has been contacted for comment.

Speaking at the scene yesterday, Garda Commissioner Drew Harris defended An Garda Síochána’s response to incidents in Coolock in Dublin.

He described the scenes of disorder as “really unacceptable”, adding: “This has been a difficult policing day for us in terms of dealing with serious public disorder centred on the Crown Paints factory.”

“We have a number of people, 15, already charged and there will be more charges overnight.

“On top of that we have seen serious disorder throughout the day, attacks on gardaí, criminal damage and also offences of serious public disorder.

“All of those will be under investigation.”
