Police have shared two images of the man they are searching for after suspected human remains were found in two suitcases dumped on and near Clifton Suspension Bridge at around midnight last night, Wednesday, July 10.

Avon and Somerset Police confirmed earlier today that they had launched a manhunt for the suspect, who had already disappeared from the scene by the time they arrived, shortly after midnight as Wednesday turned into Thursday. Now, in a police press conference held near Clifton Suspension Bridge, police have shared a description of the man, as well as the two images of him as the manhunt continues.

The individual is described as black, with a beard and was pictured wearing an Adidas baseball cap, and black trainers with thick white soles, and carrying a black backpack. He was also wearing a gold earring.

CCTV footage shows the suspect heading off the bridge in the direction of Leigh Woods, according to Chief Inspector Vicks Haywood-Melen.

Addressing the press conference, she said: “Our immediate priority is to locate the man who took the suitcases to the bridge, identify the deceased, and inform their next of kin.”

The Chief Inspector also confirmed that a forensic postmortem is ongoing to identify the human remains found in the suitcases.
