An Oshawa man faces child porn charges after allegedly trying to lure a young girl he met online into having sex.

Durham Regional Police say Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit officers began investigating on June 2 after receiving information that a man may be involved in child pornography and child luring.

“The (man) had sexually explicit conversations and sent explicit photos to what he believed to be a 12-year-old female using the social media platform Meet24 with the user name Robert,” police alleged in a statement released Wednesday.

Police claim the man also “attempted to arrange a meeting with the female so they could engage in sexual acts.”

ICE Unit investigators subsequently identified a suspect and arrested him at his Oshawa home on Wednesday.
