Northern Ireland youngster Francis Turley has made his first senior appearance for Scottish Premiership champions Celtic – and he marked the special occasion with a goal.

The north Belfast teenager came on in the 63rd minute of the Hoops’ pre-season fixture against Queen’s Park at The City Stadium in Glasgow.

Turley then found the net on 72 minutes for Brendan Rodgers’ side as they cruised to a high scoring 6-4 victory.

Former Glentoran midfielder Turley joined Celtic in 2022 when he signed a three-year professional deal.

The 18-year-old could be included in Gareth McAuley’s Northern Ireland Under-19 squad for the European Championship which starts on Monday.

He was part of the Celtic under-18 squad that lifted the Scottish Youth Cup after defeating Rangers at Hampden Park.

Turley was also involved in the B Team set up and is one of several young players aiming to impress Rodgers.
