The FAI has announced Heimir Hallgrímsson as the new Ireland men’s senior manager.

The Icelandic coach takes over from Stephen Kenny after a protracted search.

Hallgrímsson stepped down as Jamaica manager last week after a poor showing at the Copa America that saw the team lose all three of their group matches.

The 57-year-old was the co-Iceland manager at Euro 2016 when the side reached the Quarter-Finals.
