Harry Kane has joked his wife Katie Goodland ‘will be happy’ that he’s remembered to pack face moisturiser after England jetted out to Germany for the 2024 European Championships.

Gareth Southgate’s squad touched down in Erfurt on Monday evening as they settled into their new training base with just a few days until the start of the Euros.

England face Serbia in their opening group game on Sunday and Southgate will be making the finishing touches to his squad this week.

The Three Lions squad signed autographs for dozens of fans at the Birmingham airport who waved them off.

When asked what essential item he packed in his suitcase, Kane replied: “What have I packed in my bag? I am boring.

“I have got the basics like iPad, headphones and a bit of face moisturiser. The missus will be happy with that.”

England’s chances of winning the Euros will rely heavily on Kane’s goalscoring ability.

And the Bayern Munich star is backing himself to continue his impressive record in front of goal to help England’s chances of winning.

He added: “We know how much it means to the country and the fans. The nation comes together at this moment.

“We’re looking to get better, I always back myself to score.

“We have been good in the major tournaments in the last year.

“We are probably going into this as one of the favourites, one the other nations will look at and that’s a responsibility we have to take forward.

Declan Rice is another player seen as a crucial member of Southgate’s starting line-up and the Arsenal midfielder has revealed there is a level of confidence in the England squad to bring it home.

He added: “It is a privilege and honour and it feels very real now. It is proper now.

“We want to make history. I know we say it all the time, but we genuinely have a group and a manager who really believe.

“We have a confidence that we can go there and do something really special. And of course, with that comes hard work. That is going to be the main thing.

“Hard work as a team, unity and togetherness and with everyone behind us at home, we are going to feel that for sure.

“So, stick with us, be positive and let us see what happens.”
